Blog commitment

I am making a commitment here…
I am going to attempt to write a blog post every day for this blog. It has such potential to allow out team to share some of the things it is involved in.
Hopefully, some others in the team will be inspired to write and contribute – hint, hint…
I have just [...]

Disaster Recovery Simulation

For the past 4 years we have had a very strong disaster recovery plan in place (a bit better than Dilbert’s on the right).
We have built up a very strong partnership with ICM – an IT DR specialist.
All our key servers and infrastructure is covered against all levels of disaster.
Each year, as part of the [...]

BETT 2009 review

Last week Rob Jones (the college’s e-Learning manager) and I headed down to London to visit the BETT show. This is an annual event held at the Olympia exhibition hall. I had been several times before, but it was Rob’s first trip. We were excited – hoping to see wonderful new technologies that could grace [...]

Your time and Your attention

Take half an hour out to watch this.
Merlin Mann is a master at time management techniques, and this talk at Google has some very interesting views on managing your time, and your attention.
It’s a busy world we live in, with so many different projects, tasks, hobbies and people demanding our time.
Definitely worth 30 minutes of [...]

this week has [...]

Moodle Regional User Group Meeting Feedback

I spent the day at Burton College – in their very nice new HE building (lots of areas for students to chill out, lots of Macs, big wide staircases, nice canteen and so on – all very pleasant).
The main focus though was obviously Moodle. The enthusiasm of these meetings compared to the old WebCT ones [...]

6.02pm

Hello iPhone!

Apparently the 6.02 is in recognition of the UK carrier – O2!
It’s a lovely, shiny, joy to behold type of thing but I can’t justify the £35 per month contract. I’ll try and get a look at one over the weekend though and my resistance is notoriously weak around shiny new gadgets, so let’s [...]
